Scholarships, bursaries and discounts

NCI University in London offers every year scholarships and bursaries to its students, to help them effectively manage their finances while studying.

Some scholarships and bursaries are automatically applied to each student in a specific Faculty, while others require the student to apply for them. Information on scholarships and bursaries is available at www.nciul.org. Care Leavers' Scholarship

What it is: £500 a year
Who it’s for: Students with ‘care leaver’ status. Students who want to apply for it, are required to present appropriate documentation.
£ 500 Scholarship in each year of your course.

The NCI University in London Care Leavers’ Scholarship awards £500 for each year you progress on your course.
Over a three-year course this scholarship could be worth £1,500, and over a four-year course it could be worth £2,000. If you take a placement year, this will also be eligible for the scholarship.

Who’s eligible?
To apply for this scholarship, you must be a full-time ‘Home’ undergraduate student.
You must also have at least one of the following:

• Have ‘former relevant care leaver status’ according to the Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000. This status applies to people under the age of 25 who were ‘looked after’ by the local authority for at least 13 weeks since the age of 14 and ending after the age of 16;
• Have been privately fostered up to the age of 16;
• Have been the subject of a ‘special guardianship order’ and were ‘looked after’ immediately prior to the making of the order.

Students applying for some Foundation degrees at partner colleges can also apply for this scholarship. Please see the guidance notes below for more information.
This scholarship is guaranteed for all applicants who meet the criteria.

Get There Scholarship

What it is: Free travel to and across London Greater Area for a year or £600 discount on University-managed accommodation
Who it’s for: Face-2-face new students. London students will receive up to the value of £600 for travel

Travel ticket
The ticket provides free travel from your home to our Campus in London. The ticket is valid for 12 months and you can use it anytime, not just for commuting to University.

Local students
If you have a term-time address which is in London Area, you’ll receive a ‘Local’ travel ticket.

Regional students
If you have a term-time address which is outside London Area, you’ll receive a ‘Regional’ ticket.
The Get There London scheme provides £600 worth of travel throughout the TFL system through an allocated Oyster card.

Accommodation discount
If you don’t want the travel ticket, you can choose a £600 discount on any University-managed accommodation instead.

Who’s eligible?
This scholarship is available for all new full-time face-2-face ‘Home’ and EU undergraduate students joining the University.
The scholarship applies to all undergraduate courses, and selected other courses, including Foundation Year.

Study Abroad Scholarship

What it is: £1,000 for students who choose to study abroad during their degree
Who it’s for: Students who are taking part in Study Abroad, and have a household income of £42,620 or less £1000 in your second year.
This scholarship is for students who are taking part in the NCI University in London Futures Study Abroad initiative (in Italy, Spain. France)

Who’s eligible?
This scholarship is for students who have applied for the Study Abroad scheme.

Study Abroad involves studying overseas for one or two semesters during your second year. You choose from one of our partner institutions, and the time you spend overseas replaces the time you would have spent in London, so it doesn’t increase the duration of your degree.

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must also have a household income of £42,620 or less.
This scholarship is available for all new full-time face-2-face ‘Home’ and EU undergraduate students joining NCI University in London University in 2018.

International Scholarship

What it is: £1,000 or £1,500 tuition fee reduction
Who it’s for: International students

The International Scholarship reduces the tuition fee you pay every year by £1,500 if you are an undergraduate student, or £ 1,000 if you are a postgraduate student.

Who’s eligible?
All undergraduate and postgraduate International students are eligible for the International Scholarship.

You are classed as an International student if you are from a country outside of the European Union.

How to apply?
Everyone who meets the eligibility criteria will automatically receive this scholarship -you do not have to apply for it.

“Made in Italy” Scholarship

What it is: 10% reduction on tuition fees
Who can benefit: Italian students with specific requirements

The Italian Scholarship is granted to Italian students who can prove they have a household income of €25,000 or less, for the entirety of the enrolment (3 or 4 years).

NCI University in London Scholarship for Excellence

What it is: £500
Who it is for: every eligible student

The NCI University in London Scholarship for Excellence is granted to the best student per Faculty in each year. It is an one off contribution towards fees, granted in form of discount towards the next academic year’s tuition fees.

How to apply?
There is no need to apply for this scholarship. Winners will be notified at the end of each academic year.

The Rookie Athlete Scholarship

What it is: £600 per year
Who it’s for: Athletes competing at national or regional level

The Rookie Athlete scholarship is for current students at the NCI University in London who have represented any sport at national or regional level.

All sports are eligible – unlike some other universities, we don’t restrict which sports are eligible for our sports scholarships.

This scholarship is available to all ‘home’, EU and international students. You must be enrolled on a NCI University in London course.

This scholarship is discretionary, and so not everyone who is eligible will receive it.

Elite Athlete Scholarship

What it is: £900 per year
Who it’s for: Athletes competing at international level

Who’s eligible?
The Elite Athlete scholarship is for current students at the NCI University in London who have represented any sport at international level.
All sports are eligible – unlike some other universities, we don’t restrict which sports are eligible for our sports scholarships.

This scholarship is available to all ‘home’, EU and international students. You must be enrolled on a NCI University in London course.

How to apply?
You can only apply for this scholarship once you are enrolled onto a NCI University in London course.
This scholarship is discretionary, and so not everyone who is eligible will receive it.

Student Achievement Reward (Scientific Bursary)

What it is: £1,000
Who it’s for: 1 student for each MA Programme

Are you a high calibre student looking to enroll on a postgraduate course? Are you interested in a £ 1,000 bursary to support your academic ambitions? If so, the NCI University in London may be able to offer you an exciting opportunity.

The Department will reward one high flying applicant with a bursary of £ 1,000. Students must be a UK resident, aged under 25 on. The bursary will be allocated to the Level 1 entrants with the highest entry qualifications.

Alumni Loyalty Discounts

If you are a self-financing student and have either:

  • completed an undergraduate degree at NCI University in London,
  • or completed an Erasmus or Study Abroad placement at NCI University in London

You are entitled to a scholarship for part of the course fees of any postgraduate degree. This scholarship consists of 15% of the total fees and is available for:

  • taught degrees such as MA or MSc and research degrees such as PhD or MRes
  • campus-based degrees and distance learning degrees
  • full-time courses and part-time courses

Your scholarship will be automatically calculated when you apply for your postgraduate course. No separate application form is required.
Please note that this scholarship is only available for self-funding students.
This scholarship cannot be combined with another payment scheme (with the exception of the Distance Learning Full Fee Instalment Incentive). It cannot be combined with the Family Loyalty discount for international students.

Distance Learning Full Fee Instalment Incentive

If you are starting your course in the 2018/19 academic year and you pay the full fee for your distance learning course prior to the start of your course, you will be eligible for a 5% discount on the total course fee. The payment of your full fee is required by the first instalment payment deadline which is detailed in your offer letter.

Distance Learning Merit Scholarship

This scholarship offers a 10% reduction in the course fee for suitably qualified applicants.

  • It is available for any taught postgraduate distance learning degree offered by NCI University in London.
  •  You must be starting your course in the 2018/19 academic year.
  •  To be eligible, you must already have a first class undergraduate honours degree.
  •  Equivalent qualifications will be considered
  • There is no need to apply separately for this scholarship. It will be automatically applied to your fee
Family Loyalty Discount

The Family Loyalty Discount is for international (non-EU) students. It entitles you to 10% off your course fees for each year of a full-time course, whether that is an undergraduate degree, postgraduate degree, foundation course or English language course.

You must be the sibling, spouse or child of someone who is either currently studying on, or has graduated from, a full-time course here at NCI University in London. That relative must also be (or have been) classified as an international (non-EU) student.

  • Siblings: you and your sibling can have one or both parents in common.
  • Children/parents: you can be related by blood or by marriage.
  • Spouses: You cannot become eligible for this discount by marrying someone who is currently studying at the University.

To apply for a Family Loyalty Discount, you must complete the relevant application form and bring it, with the required evidence, to the Student Office (we do not accept applications by email). We recommend that you apply when registering for your course, or soon after. Applications cannot be accepted more than four months after your course start date. Our Academic Office will consider your application and let you know whether it has been approved.

When two or more family members register at the same time the family discount is split between them, i.e. two family members would each receive a 5% discount.

Please note that you cannot receive the Family Loyalty Discount if you have already received another discount/scholarship from the University, such as the Alumni Loyalty Discount.

Business School UK/EU Excellence Scholarships

What is it? An award of £2,000 per year for each standard year of study. This can either be deducted from academic fees or received via a monthly maintenance payment (optional years such as a year in industry or study abroad year are excluded).

Who qualifies? There are up to three scholarships available. All UK/EU applicants who apply for an undergraduate programme at NCI University in London Faculty of Business and Management and are classed as UK/EU for fee purposes.

To be considered for this scholarship you must:
• Demonstrate sustained academic excellence and evidence your academic achievements, skills and experience.
• Explain how you will contribute to your course and benefit academically, personally and professionally during your time at NCI University in London Faculty of Business and Management

How do I apply? You can apply for this scholarship by requesting an application form and following the instructions.

When will I be told if I am successful?
Applications will be considered based on the scholarship application form and be awarded conditionally upon you meeting the conditions of your offer. Applicants will receive the outcome of this first stage by.
The award of the scholarship will then be confirmed by our admissions team when you meet the conditions of your offer.

Women in Business Postgraduate Scholarships

What is it? An award of up to half the academic fees for a postgraduate programme at NCI University in London Faculty of Business and Management.

Who qualifies? One woman per programme each year, which shows exceptional academic achievement and professional excellence.

To be considered for this scholarship, the following criteria will need to be met:
• Demonstrate sustained academic excellence and evidence your academic achievements, skills and experience.
• Your professional references
• Being accepted to one of NCI University in London Faculty of Business and Management’s postgraduate programme
• Open to women only

How do I apply?
You can apply for this scholarship by requesting an application form and following the instructions. Deadlines to apply for this scholarship are highlighted in NCI University in London Faculty of Business and Management website.

When will I be told if I am successful?
Female candidates who apply before the deadline and receive an offer for one of the postgraduate programmes offered by NCI University in London Faculty of Business and Management will automatically be considered. All candidates should address the requirements of the scholarship in their personal statement.

Access Opportunity Scholarship

The Access Opportunity Scholarship is design to support those, who do not have financial support to further their studies. The scholarship offers students a full tuition fee waiver for the normal duration of the programme at NCI University in London.
