Bursaries and Funding

Equipment Fund

NCIUL have provided an equipment fund in order to assist students with purchasing any equipment necessary for their studies. Vouchers of £300 will be awarded to students to assist with the cost of study materials such as books, laptop, disability aids or any other learning materials. This award is based on personal circumstances, however special consideration will be given to students who have additional learning needs. This fund can only applied for once throughout the duration of your programme, unless students can provide strong evidence of change of circumstance.

Selection Criteria:

  • Applicants must be UK students or have lived in the UK for the last 3 years
  • Applicants must have been offered and accepted a place on the programme
  • Applicants must be applying to study on an Undergraduate programme
  • Applicants can choose to study either on a full time/ part-time programme and can also be either online or a face-to-face student.
  • Applicants should be able to provide evidence of an annual income of £21,000 or less

The equipment fund will be awarded on the basis of personal circumstances, the strength of the application and supporting documents. We encourage students to provide as much relevant information as possible in order to create a full picture of individual circumstances. Each applicant should be able to demonstrate that they:

  • Are keen to study and progress on their programme
  • Are highly motivated
  • Are keen to succeed
    Would greatly benefit from the bursary award*
    *(Financial information such as a bank statements will need to be provided, please see terms and conditions for the acceptable financial proof)

Application deadline: Friday 24th July 2020
Applications received after this date will not be considered.

A panel will meet after the deadline to discuss each application case-by-case. All applicants will be contacted shortly after the panel has met with the outcome of your bursary application.

Applications should be made by completing an application form and submitting it electronically to admissions@nciul.ac.uk, along with any supporting documents by the deadline date above.

Hardship Fund

To assist enrolled students who have experienced unforeseen or change of circumstances NCIUL is offering a hardship fund of £1000 per successful application. This fund will be allocated towards tuition fees and will help as a temporary relief of instalment payments (if applicable). Students are liable for the remaining balance and each payment must be made by the deadline dates. Please note that this fund is available to assist with short-term urgent situations only.

Bursaries are discretionary and applications are assessed on a case-by-case basis. We encourage students to provide as much relevant information as possible in order to create a full picture of individual circumstances.

Selection Criteria:

  • Applicants can be either UK or an international students
  • Applicants must be already enrolled, studying on a programme and have completed at least one academic semester
  • Must be able to provide evidence that adequate provisions were made to cover tuition fees prior to the start of the academic year.
  • Must be able to provide evidence of the change of circumstance or an unfortunate event
  • Normally be up to date with instalment payments

Examples of situations in which we may be able to assist include redundancy, an inability to work or costs associated with the death or sickness of a close relative.

Mature Learners Bursary

NCIUL is offering a £500 bursary to Mature Learners who wish to study on an undergraduate programme. The total amount awarded will be deducted from tuition fees. Students are liable for the remaining balance and each payment must be made by the deadline dates. Bursaries are discretionary and applications are assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Selection Criteria:

  • Applicants can be either UK or an international student
  • Applicants must have been offered and accepted a place on the programme
  • Applicants must be applying to study on an Undergraduate programme
  • Continuing applicants progressing on a programme must have passed all modules on first attempt
  • Applicants should not be in receipt of any other bursary or scholarship monies throughout the duration of their programme of study
  • Applicants can choose to study either on a full time/ part-time programme and can also be either online or a face-to-face student.
  • Applicants must be aged 21 or over
  • Be working at least 16 hours per week (Proof required)

The bursary will be awarded on the basis of personal circumstances, the strength of the application and supporting documents.   • Have a strong commitment to self-development
